Some-Forty years ago in a small town in the Carolinas, Helen Eggleston gave birth to a baby boy. That beautiful baby was me! Havin’ been born into a family rich with love for (1) each other and (2) a love for good-old-fashion cookin’, I was destined to build a career in the food industry.

Those two principles engendered an appreciation for all of the tasty treats my family would churn out. The food was SO good, I spent the first twelve years of my life lickin' those mixing bowls! EVERYONE cooked — My grandfather, Mr Cleveland Jones was by far the best chef in the south, and my grandmother, Mrs AnnieMae, could “put a hurtin’ on a sweet potato pie.” My Aunt Jannie made the best German chocolate cake. Aunt Betty made the sweetest pies and collard greens. My Aunt Margaret made beef stew "like it was nobody’s business!" Unfortunately, my mother Helen didn’t learn how to cook, but what she lacked in culinary skills she more than made up for with her love. As a youth, these people instilled foundational principles, serving as a blueprint for every decision in my life. My dedication to cooking is one way I keep the promise to the late Ms Helen Eggleston.

Regardless of the turbulence or success that comes with this journey in starting and running this company — I make the driving force about the food. Staying in my lane and attentively working hard in that lane is a mantra that I strongly believe in. Anything is possible with passion. Sweet Potatoes is one part of myself that I invest a lot of my energy into. Another passion that helps keep me keen and kemp is travelling to new places. I have been to every continent and have goals to travel to every country. Passion isn’t always about money, but any of your passions are attainable when you are consistent. Sweet Potatoes is about making our passionate community accessible and our passion attainable with quality food and beverage.
